Preserve Host Position
Because this is a nature preserve, we do not allow domestic animals in the preserve, nor can the hosts have domestic animals. Sorry!
Friends of Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is accepting applications for a temporary volunteer Preserve Host(s) to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Preserve. This temporary (6 month) part-time position and receives no compensation or benefits other than free RV site with full hook-ups (but no internet supplied) at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, where the responsibilities outlined below are to be fulfilled. This volunteer(s) must be able to successfully complete the San Bernardino County volunteer application process and pass a background check.
Daily responsibilities include:
Opening and Closing entry gate and rest rooms
Maintain the restrooms
Greeting visitors and providing information regarding the local area and rules and regulations of BMCP
Contacting FoBMCP personnel and/or law enforcement as needed
Being available outside operating hours in the event that emergency assistance is required and/or emergency personnel needs to be contacted
Visually inspecting all facilities for cleanliness or damage
Inspecting bulletin boards and information kiosks and re-stocking resources as needed
Sweeping and removing debris and litter around garbage containers, restrooms, day-use areas, and on roadways
Empty garbage cans and replace liners
Perform related duties as needed or as requested by FoBMCP personnel
