What We Saw
We had 24 birders and logged 51 species.
Notables: Wrentit; Lucy’s warbler; Blue grosbeak; Indigo bunting; Lesser goldfinch feeding young.
High counts: House finch (37); Phainopepla (27); Lesser goldfinch (22); Yellow warbler (21); Bushtit (18); Anna’s hummingbird (13).
Mammals: California ground squirrel; Desert cottontail; California vole; Mule deer (including two very young fawns).
Reptiles: Side-blotched lizard; Western fence lizard; Western whiptail lizard.
Conditions: Clear, calm, pleasant, 56 at 0700 and 89 at 1100.
